Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Bursary (the "Service"), operated from New York, United States ("Bursary," "we," "us"). By accessing or using the Service, or clicking "I agree," you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility · 18+ only
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 18. If you are applying on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it.
2. What Bursary does
Bursary is a discovery and drafting tool. You tell us about yourself; we surface grants, startup credits, contests, prizes and similar programs ("Programs") you may be interested in, rank them, and generate draft application materials to help you apply.
3. No guarantee of any award
We do not guarantee that you will qualify for, be selected for, be awarded, or receive any Program, grant, credit, prize, or funding identified through the Service. Eligibility and award decisions are made solely by the relevant Program operator, not by Bursary. Any "match," score, amount, or recommendation is an informational estimate, not a promise of any outcome. Program details, deadlines, amounts and eligibility change frequently — always verify on the official Program page before applying.
4. Not legal, financial, or professional advice
Bursary is not a law firm, accounting firm, or financial adviser, and using the Service does not create any attorney-client, fiduciary, or professional-advisory relationship. The Service and all generated content are provided for general informational purposes only and do not constitute legal, financial, tax, accounting, grant-writing, or other professional advice. Application drafts are starting points only. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, fact-checking, and ensuring the accuracy and truthfulness of anything you submit to any Program. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional.
5. AI-generated content is provided "as is"
The Service uses artificial-intelligence systems to produce matches and drafts. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or may contain fabricated information ("hallucinations") — this is a known characteristic of AI systems and is not a defect. All output is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind. Do not submit AI-generated content to any Program without independently verifying it.
6. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation
- Paid plans (e.g. Pro $29/month, Founder $49/month) are billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe.
- Automatic renewal: paid plans automatically renew each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing you affirmatively consent to this recurring charge. We will send a confirmation of your subscription and reasonable notice before any price change.
- Cancel anytime, one click: you may cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal link in your receipt, or by emailing us; cancellation stops future charges at the end of the current period.
- Refunds: if you are not satisfied, email us within 7 days of a charge for a full refund of that charge.
7. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the Service: no scraping or automated bulk extraction, no reverse-engineering, no unlawful, fraudulent, infringing or harmful content, no submitting false information to Programs, and no attempts to disrupt or gain unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
8. Your content & intellectual property
You retain ownership of the information you submit and of the application drafts generated for you. You grant us a limited license to process your inputs solely to operate and improve the Service. The Service itself, including its software, corpus organization, design and brand, remains our property.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION IS ACCURATE OR CURRENT.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ELIGIBLE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FUNDING OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) US$50.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Bursary harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your submissions to Programs, or your violation of these Terms.
12. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration in New York, NY, and you and Bursary waive any right to participate in a class action, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
